Misery Loves Co Launches ToyBlock Music
Smart Kids Deserve Smart Music
02.21.2010 – Misery Loves Co (MLC) is proud to announce the launch of ToyBlock Music.

ToyBlock Music is a children’s music project dedicated to the idea that kids understand, and deserve, real music written and performed by real musicians. “Exposing kids to good music just makes sense, and they love it.” says MLC president and founder Joanna Quargnali-Linsley. “What kids listen to should be just as interesting and complex as what we listen to as adults. ToyBlock Music has found artists who can take familiar songs and really make them something new and unexpected.”

Eats Paste, the project’s first album, set for release April 1st, features a hip-hop/funk Wheels on the Bus, surf punk The Cat Came Back, an indie There Was an Old Woman, and other fun gems. A full album release is anticipated for late 2010.

The project doesn’t end with musicians collaborating on great albums. Music isn’t just something you listen to, it’s something every child should have an opportunity to play, and play with. ToyBlock Music is developing an interactive website, complete with musical games and a space for kids to create and share their own songs.

A portion of all the proceeds from ToyBlock Music will be contributed to PAGER, a nonprofit organization working to educate and assist families and young children suffering from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. GERD is a condition which affects an estimated 7 million babies in the United States, and can lead to life long health problems if not treated early and continuously.

The ToyBlock Music team includes Joanna Quargnali-Linsley (president of TBM and MLC), Sandro Quargnali-Linsley (Vice-President of TBM and MLC), Miriam Brosseau (intern and singer/songwriter), Ricco Lumpkins (Grammy award winning engineer), Rick Barnes (owner of Rax Trax Studio), and an impressive cadre of passionate, innovative musicians including Austin Collins and Anna Soltys.
